I suggest making a page on the BBC, which has a Nigerian Pidgin edition: https://www.bbc.com/pidgin WhisperToMe (talk) 22:32, 27 September 2017 (UTC)

This is perfect for getting a feel for the language. Gdog1102 (talk) 22:14, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

We need to decide on a standard orthography. I've seen some people write "fọ" and others write "for". I'm not Nigerian so I'm not sure. What are your thoughts? Gdog1102 (talk) 22:14, 15 January 2018 (UTC)

I haven't seen many of these words written like this in literature reviews, and they appears ambiguous in its current state, and may be interpreted differently by different users. We are currently dealing with similar issues on Yorùbà Wikipedia where we allowed a single user to translate all our namespace words. As a native speaker of Yorùbà language myself, I am still struggling with some of his namespace translations. In my opinion, we should leave the namespace words in English for now to avoid any unnecessary ambiguity. In the future, the naijá Wikipedia community could have a RfC to agree on what the namespace words should be. In any case, thanks for the prompt response and for taking the time to provide translation for the namespace words. Regards. T Cells (talk) 16:11, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hello T Cells, I understand that you hardly contribute to this project and I am certain you have limited or no knowledge of the Nigerian pidgin Ortography. I feel your being a test-admin to this project is for hat collection. With the few text you have contributed, I have seen more editors making changes to your text. And I have been pained in making corrections to your contributions as well. I will be pinging other major contributors to the Naija Wikipedia project here to ascertain my translations if it is consistent with what is obtained locally. @DonKevin, Misteld, Jonywikis, Ydamilola, Biowikician, Omegor1, Jehson01, Egiebizzy, Sagbosam. Thanks.-- Samatics (talk) 17:49, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
@Samatics thank you for pinging me, i agree with you, the autography is correct and consistently used by contributors to the Naija Wikipedia project. Moreover i haven't seen much of @T Cells on Naija Wikipedia and i doubt if he has any knowledge of Nigerian Pidgin ortography because the translations given are correct. Please @T Cells what steps have you taken to correct the namespaces of the Yoruba languages you claimed are incorrect? Best Regards. DonKevin (talk) 17:58, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Samastics, thanks for pinging me and weldone for your contributions, you are right about the orthography and am sure is accepted locally. Hi T cells please your activities have been poor and your contribution has so many errors. Am not sure you have any knowledge of Naija pidgin orthography, so please let Samastics continue with the good work. Meanwhile T cells have you taken any step to correct the Yoruba Namespaces you claim to have many errors as an admin? Try do so please. Thanks. Misteld (talk) 18:08, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hello TCells, i understand that you don't contribute much to this project and even some of your contributions are what I make corrections on also i have seen more editors changing your text which is another headache for the editors. So i agree with you Samatics, you are right about the orthography and am sure it's accepted locally too. Ydamilola (talk) 18:13, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Yuza:samatics Thanks for pinging me.@Yuza:T Cells I agree with the translation of the namespaces and it is readable and understandable. Jonywikis (talk) 18:39, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
@ Samatics, Thanks for pinging me, I support all the translations of the namespaces you made. All your translation are consistent with what many major editors of Naijá Wikipedia are using and can understand. @ T Cells, we have not seen much of your impact in Naija Wikipedia despite you being one of the administrators and you seems to have zero knowledge Nigerian pidgin. I would advice you reach to the major editors in Naijá Wikipedia to learn more on Naijá orthography. I will be ready to help if need be. Best regards. Thanks. Biowikician (talk) 18:41, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Hi,

I need to understand the correct text for the logo of this Wikipedia.

The current text is "Di Book for Knowledge Wey Dey For Free". Does "for free" here mean "zero dollars" or "liberated"? The correct meaning must be like "liberated"; see w:en:Wikipedia:The Free Encyclopedia. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 09:56, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

Hello Amir, please check. I have updated the logo text to convey the "liberated" context and correct spelling. "Di free buk for evritin wey you wan sabi". Thanks.-- Samatics (talk) 14:51, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Samatics, I don't think this is contextually correct, or in consistent with how other similar Wikipedia has been described. No hard feelings. I think it's better as "Naijá Wikipedia, Di free encyclopedia". Regards. T Cells (talk) 16:04, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
Hi Samastics, you are correct with the text you use for the logo on the interface, its very ok since it conveys the meaning of encyclopaedia and will be understood locally. Thanks Misteld (talk) 18:21, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
@Misteld, Thanks for the comment. @T Cells, Are you sure you can write and understand Nigerian pidgin? I doubt it. Please what is an encyclopedia when translated to Nigerian pidgin for native speakers to understand? Note that translations are made to help other users who don't undersatnd English language very well to contribute to the sum of all knowledge. Thanks.-- Samatics (talk) 18:30, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
@Samatics, Thanks for pinging me, I agree with you on the autography being used as it suits the local readers and most of the contributors are using it for the Naija wiki project. However @T Cells, I have not seen much of your work on the Naija Wikipedia. I can see you are struggling with the language. No hard feelings. Pls try to work on the Yoruba wikipedia namespace which you also confirm to be struggling with. Best wishes. Sagbosam (talk) 22:56, 23 May 2022 (UTC)
@Samatics,I totally agree with you on the logo text, it really appeals to the local readers of Naija pigin. @T Cells, pls how can the local readers comprehend the meaning of encyclopedia in the pigin palace? Sagbosam (talk) 06:23, 24 May 2022 (UTC)
